Application Information
Applications open 1 September 2026 and close on 30 September 2026.
Successful applicants will be notified by mid-October 2026.
Participation in the WGGC Winter School is free of charge. The programme includes intensive hands-on training in small groups, access to dedicated computational resources, extensive interaction with trainers, networking opportunities, and all course materials.
To foster an engaging and collaborative learning environment, we will provide coffee breaks, snacks, joint lunches, and light networking dinners throughout the school duration.
(!) Successful applicants are responsible for arranging and funding their own travel and accommodation. We encourage applicants to seek support through their research groups, graduate schools, institutions, or project funds.
(!) Successful applicants are obliged to participate in the online part on 25 – 26 November. Failure to attend the online part may lead to revocation of admission to the Hands-on Training.
Applications will undergo a blind evaluation by an independent panel of experts. Reviewers will assess scientific motivation, relevance of the training to the applicant’s research, and prior experience to assemble a diverse well-balanced cohort that will benefit most from the interactive training format. You don’t need to “know it all” to be chosen. Just be you at any stage of your experience and spark our interest with your enthusiasm!
Application Statement
The WGGC Winter School is designed as an intensive, highly interactive training experience with a limited number of participants. We are looking for motivated researchers who are eager to learn, actively contribute to discussions, and engage with both trainers and fellow participants.
As part of the application process, we ask applicants to prepare their responses personally. Really! The use of AI-generated application texts is strongly discouraged. Applications that appear to rely substantially on AI-generated content may receive a lower evaluation score. We are a little sensitive on it and we are interested in understanding your own scientific interests, motivations, challenges, and goals – not those of an AI agent, even a cute one.
